Landscaping Lawn Care Books Cleanup

Landscaping Lawn Care Books CleanupThe question you are already holding

You probably did not come here for a tour of the rules. You came with one bid and one worry. Start there. The lines are how the worry gets smaller.

Ask it here

A streetcar with a start and an end

A question about a bid should be easy to board. One loop, one answer, then the lines. If a second loop is needed, we say so instead of pretending the first answer covered the yard. Bring the worry you actually have. We would rather ride that one question to a stop than tour every rule on the way.

The questions below are the ones we hear from lawn owners. They are not a script. If yours is different, the form at the bottom is the place it belongs. We would rather answer the question you have than the question a page guessed.

Does a mixed price I already signed get read as one bill

It can, when the invoice never split the work, and the return is left with one charge for pieces that needed their own lines. A design fee, a weekly cut, and a trench do not become one kind of work because they share a cover. A contract you already signed is not stuck that way forever. While the year is open, the invoice and the job sheet can still be pulled into lines the return can point at. October is often the last calm month to do it. After the year closes, you are defending whatever the paper said.

Bring the signed price. We will not tell you the year is one number until we can see the mix. A price that is entirely a weekly mow is a different answer from a price that hides design, a cemetery, and a trench.

Does fertilizer put me in the applicator rules

Fertilizer alone is a different visit from a spray the customer is paying for. A product the crew uses because the label says anyone may buy it is still a fact the month has to name when the visit is for hire. The books have to show which truck went out and what the customer was paying for. If both a fertilizer pass and a spray go out on the same truck, the month should show both, because what was in the tank and what the invoice billed are not the same sentence.

We do not hold an applicator credential here. We notice whether your file claims work that needs one. Saying 'we spray' on a proposal is enough of a reason to ask what was in the tank. The credential itself is named on the page for owners in our state.

When does the first hire change the payroll month

The week the first employee starts, if you were the only person on the tools. A spouse who mows on Saturdays or a partner who runs the routes can change that month too. Payroll then has to exist. It does not wait until you feel ready. Tell us the week, even if the person is part time, and we will mark it against the receipts you already have.

Can the design fee stay on its own line

Yes, when it is stated apart from the mow, the planting, and the rest of the work. A design fee folded into a mixed total gets read with the rest. You can still talk to the customer about one season. The paper has to be willing to say design on one line and mowing on another. Making that split is the only test this questions page runs. Elegance on the cover is allowed. Invisibility on the invoice is what leaves the return with one number.

Is a sprinkler just more landscaping

No. An underground sprinkler is a different job from the weekly cut, and the trench has its own story on that same work. A weekly check of heads can be a different line from the trench that put the heads in. We split those before we let a seasonal number decide the story for both.

The crew's weeks live on a whiteboard

A whiteboard in the truck is how a lot of good crews run a Tuesday. A lender cannot take that board as a record, and a return cannot point at it either. You do not have to retype every old week before the first mow. You do need the open season closed well enough that a prepay is not mixed with money you have earned, and that the equipment you bought is not masquerading as mulch. We'll take the whiteboard as a start. The close is the month a partner can read, which is a different object from the board that got the crew through Tuesday.

Bring the question you are holding

One question is enough. Name the bid it belongs to if you have it.
